Description
The Occupational Health and Safety Act defines a supervisor as a person who has charge of a workplace or authority over a worker. Have you trained your managers, supervisors, lead hand workers as supervisors?
Mandatory Supervisory Awareness Training will cover the following aspects:
- Rights of workers and reprisals
- Supervisor responsibilities
- Explanation and discussion of the definition of “competent person”
- An overview of due diligence and the internal responsibility system (IRS)
- Ontario’s health and safety legislative framework, including their purpose-Elements of the Act and regulations, how to read and interpret them
- Role of the Ministry of Labour inspectors including enforcement
- Health and safety resources-Recognizing, Assessing and Controlling & Evaluating Hazards and controls implemented
- Legal requirements for notifying parties of accidents including the Ministry of Labour, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board
- Accident investigation processes including as a minimum
- Workplace Safety and Insurance Board claims management
- Identify and record potential or actual hazards in the workplace
- Identify any hazards which require immediate attention and correction
- Ensure that existing procedures are adequate
